We are United Minerals, a company headquartered in Emery, Utah, USA. We specialize in the manufacturing of plant-derived mineral products. Using advanced technology, we swiftly extract minerals from mineral-rich strata unearthed from ancient geological formations in Utah at our computer-controlled facility. Currently, we primarily supply our products to domestic and Asian markets through various supplement companies. We maintain a strong relationship with the local state federal government, holding leasing rights granted by them. The size of the land containing mineral-rich strata of humic shale covers approximately 1,900 acres. We ensure an ample supply to meet future needs, anticipating the rapid growth in global market demand.
Our Team
Based in Emery County, a region with a history of over 100 years of coal mining, United Minerals is deeply involved in the extraction and manufacturing of plant-derived mineral products. Our team consists mainly of skilled professionals who have inherited their expertise from the local coal mining tradition, with over 20 years of experience in the extraction and manufacturing of plant minerals. United Minerals stands as a leader in providing possibly the highest-quality minerals among competitors, delivering them faster than anyone else.
Our staff, consisting of several dozen members, are predominantly locals, with many having multi-generational ties to the coal mining industry. Many employees work alongside family members, cherishing the familial bond within our company.
United Minerals is led by James Byars, who inherited the leadership of the company from his father, John Byars. Previously, he refined his skills in various departments at major mining companies, gaining valuable experience from his work and the challenges he faced alongside John since the company’s establishment 20 years ago. He places great importance on his colleagues, considering all employees as part of his extended family. Moreover, he genuinely wishes for the happiness of every household benefiting from the plant derived mineral products they provide.

James Byars
President at United Minerals LLC, overseeing supplement manufacturing with a focus on sourcing raw materials directly from mining. With over 25 years of experience in mining and process management, James has held leadership roles in major mining companies. These experiences shaped his expertise in regulatory compliance, safety systems, project management, and equipment maintenance.
James holds key certifications, such as MSHA Fireboss, Mine Foreman (Underground and Surface), and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT-A). Dedicated to safety and excellence, he actively contributes to his community through emergency services and search and rescue operations, exemplifying leadership on and off the job.
John Byars
Former President of United Minerals LLC and owner of Red Cliff Mining Inc., John has over 40 years of experience in the mining industry. He independently founded Red Cliff Mining, successfully opening and operating an underground mine for TRC Minerals. As President of United Minerals from 2008, John played a pivotal role in driving growth and innovation, integrating Red Cliff Mining’s operations with United Minerals to strengthen both companies.
John and his wife, Vickie, made significant contributions to the early success of United Minerals, working together to establish a strong foundation for the company. John’s extensive expertise spans underground mining operations, electrical systems, and leadership, showcasing a lifelong commitment to excellence in the mining industry.
Kim Hansen
With over 20 years of experience in administration, Kim leads the project management team and ensures the efficient operation of the organization. She manages and coordinates a wide range of services and resources, including overseeing human resources and maintaining strict product quality control. Kim is also responsible for critical quality management systems, including FSMA compliance. Known for her reliability and supportive nature, Kim is dedicated to fostering a motivated, inclusive, and productive work environment where employees feel empowered to thrive.
